FAQS

what you need to know

Dermal Fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected into the skin. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, contour, create volume, and to revitalise the skin. Dermal Fillers main ingredient is Hyaluronic Acid (HA), which is a substance that naturally exists in your body.

Dermal Fillers work by boosting the skin’s supply of Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which revitalises and adds volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look.

The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 6 to 18 months. Dermal Fillers give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expressions. As your face changes over time, Dermal Fillers allow you to control your looks subtly as you age.

  • Lips – Adds volume, shapes and defines
  • Cheeks – Adding volume to the cheek and midface creates a lift to the face
  • Jawline – Sculpts the lower face and balances your facial profile
  • Chin – Lengthens and enhances the lower facial appearance creating a more balanced profile
  • Nasolabial Folds – Filler is placed along the foldS softening the wrinkle

Results can last for up to 18 months, depending on the treatment chosen and the area treated. Other factors that determine how long Dermal Fillers last, are patient’s lifestyle choices. A patient with a faster metabolism and an active lifestyle will break Dermal Filler down quicker.

Prior to treatment the area that is going to be treated is numbed using a topical anaesthetic cream. Dermal Filler contains Lidocaine which is a local anaesthetic, so throughout the treatment the area continues to be numbed.

BEFORE TREATMENT

During the initial consultation at Aesthetica, your practitioner will listen to your treatment expectations and discuss what you wish to achieve. Following an assessment of your treatment needs, your practitioner will recommend which Dermal Filler treatment is most suitable for you. No two cases are the same, and you will receive a personal treatment plan based upon your concerns and objectives, facial anatomy and medical history.

After a treatment plan has been agreed, and only once you are happy to proceed, you will be asked to read, understand and sign a consent form before the treatment can begin

DURING TREATMENT

The treatment is quick, typically taking about 30 minutes. Treatment with Dermal Fillers does not affect facial expression and the benefits can be seen immediately.

AFTER TREATMENT

After a treatment some reactions are relatively common, these include slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising and tenderness. The reactions are generally mild to moderate and usually disappear shortly after injection. They typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days, but for some treatments they may last longer. The majority of our patients can return to work or their usual daily activities immediately.

Redness, swelling and bruising are normal effects that are to be expected immediately following the treatment. These effects are usually very minor and will have subsided in around 24 hours. Small bruises may appear where the injections were administered in the skin this is normal. During the consultation session, any other potential side effects will be outlined.

Dermal Filler boast having very little downtime attached and before you leave the clinic your practitioner will ensure you have been given any relevant aftercare instructions.
